UNITED NATIONS: Pakistan
has been elected along with 43 other members on the United
Nations Commission on International Trade Law for a period of
six years.
According to a UN press release the election of members to the
Commission was carried out in two phases when the General
Assembly elected in the first phase, 19 new members in the
Commission who would replace those members whose terms are
expiring on June 13 next year.
The new members included
four member states from Africa, four from Asia, three from
Eastern Europe, Four from Latin America and caribbean and Four
from Westetrn Europe and other States.
Obtaining the endorsement of
regional groups for each member state for membership of the
Comission for a period of six years starting from June 14 next
year.
Along with Pakistan the
other countries included Austria, Belarus, Czech Republic,
Ecuador, Guatemala, India, Italy, Kenya, Madagascar, Mangolia,
Nigeria, Paraguay, Serbia and Montengro, Spain, Thailand,
Uganda, United States and Venezula.
