Two killed, two injured over Enmity

MULTAN: Six armed men allegedly killed two persons and injured another two including a union council (UC) naib nazim at different villages of Basti Malook area, located in the suburbs of the city on Wednesday, the first day of Eidul Fitr, police said.

Citing enmity as motive behind the incident, a police official of Basti Malook police station said that the accused, riding two motorcycles, first attacked a 70-year old retired Subedar Sher Muhammad Metla and his relative Kala before Eid prayers. Kala had come to Chah Budhan Wala village to give 'Eidi' to her sister, who is daughter-in-law of deceased Sher Muhammad.

The accused used firearms in the attack at Chah Budhan Wala that killed Sher Muhammad and Kala. Later they arrived at a nearby village Rana Wahan where they shot and injured naib nazim of UC Rana Wahan Muhammad Ajmal Metla and another person Muhammad Tariq Metla.

Accused were identified as Altaf, Iqbal, Imtiaz, Ashfaq, Muhammad Iqbal, and Mureed Hussain and a case was registered against them, said SHO Basti Malook police station. Police said, the accused, who also belong to the Metla family, had enmity with Sher Muhammad Metla as his two sons Shabbir and Tanweer in Jan 2003 killed a person.

Liaquat and his son Abid, all relatives of the alleged attackers, for allegedly abusing the female members of their family. Both sons of deceased Sher Muhammad are in jail these days. Bodies of both the deceased have been sent to the Nishtar Hospital for postmortem. The injured have been admitted to the hospital for medical treatment.
