LONDON (UK): The
President of Pakistan Muslim League [N], Mian Shahbaz Sharif
has said that his party shall in no way enter into any deal
with anyone which tantamount ‘to any negation or compromise on
the 1973-constitution’.
Speaking at an assemblage held in the England capital to
recall the events which led to the fall of Dacca over three
decades ago, the PML [N] chief held what he phrased as the
‘undemocratic powers, responsible for it’.
Nuclear Program
Shahbaz Sharif, in a typical
political style, eschewed the role of politicians vis-à-vis
this episode n’ thus did not name any-one.
He have had 'a lot of
appreciation' for the PPP author n’ ex-Prime Minister of
Pakistan, late Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto for ‘initiating a venture
for making Pakistan a nuclear state’, which he said, was
eventually ‘taken to a logical end by the ex-Premier, Mian
Nawaz Sharif by setting off a process of nuclear devices’.
CBMs and Kashmir
The PML [N] chief who is
leading an exiled life was critical of the CBMs of the present
government for a direct interaction with India overtly for
peace in the region n’ said: ‘those who opposed a
face-to-face contact between Nawaz Sharif n’ AB Vajpayee ‘were
now themselves giving too much concessions to belligerent
India.’
Sharif vowed that his party ‘would not recognize any deal on
Kashmir’ which he said ‘negates the UN resolutions or the
aspirations of the people of Jammu n’ Kashmir state.’
Don't be Too Generous
The PML (N) Chief urged the present government ‘to evade
trends of being too much generous towards India’, as, what he
envisioned ‘ New Delhi shall persist with its antagonistic
mindset both towards Pakistan as well as the people of the
Himalayan State for raising voice to seek their birth right of
determination.’
The PML [N] president
claimed that his elder brother — ‘Nawaz Sharif gave a flat No
to President Clinton’s offer worth billions of dollars in
return for any compromise in South Asia and instead opted to
take every step that suited the national interests of
Pakistan.’
Need for Widespread
Education/Health-Cover
Shahbaz Sharif, who himself ruled the province of Punjab as it
Chief Minister in the pre-1999-epoch, stressed the need for a
judicious set-up in the country which he said ‘could open
vistas with equilibrium for everyone to seek best possible
facilities in the arena of education, health-cover, employment
opportunities as well as ‘instantaneous justice to the people
at their door steps.’
Freedom of Press
Sharif also called for ‘freedom of press in Pakistan to bring
to surface the plight of the people’, who, he viewed ‘are
faced with a fresh problematic scenario with the advent of
every dawn.’ 'Such a scenario can, in no way be accepted', he
said with a vow 'we want to see every-one, more specifically
the poor class flourish n' derive optimal benefits from the
national assets.'
'A free press means a free
nation and with this viewpoint full freedom of press in
Pakistan is highly essential to air the minimal, yet basic
dilemmas of the 'have-nots' in an absolute vocal style' PML
[N] chief said by adding: 'a caged press can not disseminate
the real feelings of the masses'.
