ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan
Christian community celebrated the 2003th birthday of the
Jesus Christ with the usual fervour on Monday.
They tastefully decorated churches and homes with glittering
Christmas trees and stars. Midnight prayers were offered in
churches in all major cities and towns.
In the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad, large
congregations were held at the St. Joseph's Cathedral and
Christ Church.
In Rawalpindi, Bishop Anthony Lobo celebrated Mass at the St.
Joseph Cathedral. Special prayers were offered for the
solidarity and prosperity of Pakistan and for the oppressed
people around the globe.
Christian community decorated and illuminated small churches
in their localities including G-7/2, Ahensa Colony G-8, Paris
Colony F-7 and Tokyo Colony F-7 to.
The Christmas Tree and a 'crib' depicting the Nativity scene
was the most essential adornments of the festivity.
Some churches and institutions also organized Christmas
Bazaars and cultural shows. One such event was held at G-6
ground with the joint efforts of the Christian community and
district administration.
These celebrations continue throughout the first week of
January.
