ISLAMABAD: The last date
for the cancellation of the National Identity Cards was
extended for further one month, as the old NICs would be valid
till January 31st, Interior Minister Faisal Saleh Hayat
informed the Senate on Friday.
Senator Babar Ghouri on a notice inviting attention told the
house that the old identity cards would be cancelled from
December 31st 2003 when only half of the eligible population
has got issued their new cards. He demanded extension of the
date of cancellation of the old NICs.
The Minister said the date was already extended twice in this
regard and now it will not be extended again. But because of
the Parliamentarians insistence he announced to extend the
date for further one month.
