KARACHI: Host Club’s
Amjad Yousuf fired a spectacular three-under-par 69 second
round to take two stroke lead in Rs one million Caltex 36th
Pakistan Open at Karachi Golf Club (KGC) here Friday.
25-year-old Amjad, who carded one-under-par round of 71 on the
first day, jumped on the top with a brilliant second round,
playing 36 at front nine and had an excellent round of 33 at
back nine.
His back nine included as many as four birdies. Overall Amjad
had five birdies and two bogeys in his round of 69.
Talented golfer Amjad matched the opening day’s
three-under-par round by team-mate Nadeem Inayat. But Nadeem
slipped to sixth after carding round of two-over-par 74.
Karam Hussain of PAF was placed second with an aggregate of
142, having rounds of 70 and 72 laced with four birdies.
Ansar Mahmood of Islamabad was placed third after two rounds
of 70 and 72 with score of 142. Nadeem’s brother Javed Inayat
was occupying tenth spot with an aggregate of 144. Reigning
Champion Muhammad Shabbir Iqbal of Pakistan Navy is struggling
at 16th after rounds of 70 and 77.
Having the handicap of two, Ali Haji also of KGC was leading
the competition among the amateurs with an aggregate of 148.
After poor round of 77 on the first day, Ali was in great nick
scoring one-under- par 71 to emerge as leader in gross
contest.
