ISLAMABAD: The
opposition parties in the Senate Friday expressed its concern
over attack on the president.
Wali condemns
ANP leader Senator Asfand Yar Wali while speaking on a point
of order expressed concern over the attack on President
Musharraf and said the Opposition condemns the incident.
He said before the SAARC summit the incident with the head of
state is regretful. He said we should not under estimate this
incident and the security agencies and the government should
take effective measures for protection of lives and property
of the people.
NA Censures the Bid
The National Assembly condemned suicide attack on the
motorcade of President General Pervez Musharraf on Friday at
Rawalpindi terming it 'a worst example of security lapse'.
Mehnaz Rafi, a member of PML (Q) presented a resolution in
National Assembly to condemn the incident in which suiciders
made an attempt on the life of the President. The National
Assembly passed the resolution unanimously and condemned the
attack terming it a terrorist activity.
She said the attackers were not Muslims because, 'No any
Muslim can commit such an activity as terrorism in any form
terrorism is not allowed in Islam.'
The government should take this attack as serious threat and
those held responsible for this heinous crime must be taken to
task as lesson for others, she said.
Amin Fahim Censures
The Parliamentary Party leader of Pakistan Peoples Party
(Parliamentarians), Makhdoom Amin Fahim also condemned the
suicide attack and criticized 'the role of agencies
responsible for security of the President'.
Nisar says Attack: Security Lapse
On a point of order, Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan who is also
acting President of Pakistan Muslim League (N) also condemned
the attack terming it 'a security lapse and inefficiency of
responsible institutions'.
Call for Production Order
Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan made a request to the Speaker National
Assembly for issuing production order of Makhdoom Javed Hashmi
and Chaudhry Abid Sher Ali.
He said that, 'the House will be incomplete if both the
detained members belonging to PML (N) were not produced in the
House.' He made request to the Chair for promise to issue
Production Orders according to rule 90 of the Rules of
Procedure and Conduct of Business of the National Assembly.
Qazi Terms the episode 'an eye-opener'
The acting chief of the MMA, Qazi Hussain Ahmed also spoke on
the occasion and termed the suicide incident not only
condemnable but an eye opener for every one.
Talking about Production Orders for the presence of two PML
(N) Members in the National Assembly, Qazi Hussain Ahmed said,
'Issuance of Production Orders is part of the Parliamentary
precedents and Custodian of the House must continue this
precedence to promote democracy in the country.'
