Jamali assures SAARC Summit in Pakistan to be held on schedule
Pakistan Times Federal Bureau Report

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali Friday said that the suicide attack on the motorcade of President would not affect the forthcoming SAARC Summit and categorically stated that it would be held on schedule.

The Prime Minister was talking to mediamen at the Parliament House here on Friday after presiding over the Parliamentary party meeting of Pakistan Muslim League and its allied parties in the National Assembly.

Clues

Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali said that the government has found some clues to Thursday's suicide attack on the motorcade of the President.

Responding to a question regarding the clues, Prime Minister did not divulge details of it and said, 'It is a very serious matter and government is probing it.' In reply to a question, Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali said that the security system would be revamped.

No Security Lapse

However, Prime Minister Jamali did not agree with a questioner that there was any security lapse. About the performance of security institutions, he said all concerned institutions try their best.

But Jamali pointed out that it is very difficult to check the suicide attackers and referred to similar incidents in other parts of the world. He added that Friday authorities have traced the masterminds of the Thursday's assassination bid on Musharraf, wherein the President narrowly escaped, but avoided to unveil details into what was traced, sources reported.

He stated that 'as per Blue Book all security agencies of Pakistan are responsible for the President's security.' The government was still busy investigating last day's lethal assassination attempt. To avoid such horrendous incidents in Pakistan, Presidential security system would have to be revised root and branch, he remarked.
