ISLAMABAD: The
country’s exports have recorded an increase of 13.2% in
January-December 2003 as compared to corresponding period of
last year.
According to a details, Pakistan's exports during
July-December period of current fiscal 2003-04 were recorded
at $ 5.880 billion, showing 13.15 percent increase over
exports worth $ 5.197 billion realized in the like period of
previous fiscal.
According to the
provisional trade figures, exports during the month of
December, 2003 totalled at $ 1.044 billion as against $ 863.22
million achieved in the like period of last fiscal, showing
21.05 percent increase.
The exports worth
$ 1.044 billion realized in the month of December 2003 are
also up by 21.27 percent when compared with the exports worth
$ 861.53 million achieved in November 2003.
During the first
six months of the current fiscal (July-December, 2003-4), the
imports also witnessed 14.19 percent growth to $ 6.609 billion
from $ 5.787 billion of the same period of last financial
year.
The country's
imports in December 2003 were recorded at $ 1.328 billion,
witnessing an increase of 28.66 percent over imports worth $
1.032 billion realized in the corresponding month of last
fiscal.
The balance of
trade which was at $ -590.09 million during July-December
period of FY 2002-03, has reached to $ -728.3 million during
July-December period of the current fiscal (2003-04).
