'Holy Relics to not be shifted from Pakistan's Badshahi Mosque'

LAHORE: Holy Relics in Badshahi Mosque will not be shifted to Lahore Museum, however foolproof security arrangement will be made for their safety.

This was decided in a meeting with Chief Secretary Punjab Kamran Rasool in the chair here Wednesday. Among others who attended the meeting include Secretary Information, Secretary Auqaf, Director General Archaeology and Director Lahore Museum.

It was told in the meeting that there were 27 relics exhibited in the Badshahi Mosque since 1883 and a large number of visitors came to Badshahi Mosque to see them and they had sentimental attachment with them. The most valuable relic was a holy Quran which was decorated with gold and silver work.

The Chief Secretary directed the Secretary Auqaf to make all necessary security arrangements within a month. He directed to constituted a committee of six non-official visitors to have a permanent check on security arrangements and other matters pertaining to those holy relics.
