RAWALPINDI: President
General Pervez Musharraf has directed the authorities
concerned to carry out a thorough investigation into the
tragic accident near Bhakkar Thursday, which claimed 62
precious lives.
The President asked the officials to determine the exact cause
of the accident and take measures for prevention of such
accidents in future.
Taking note of the reports that the accident took place due to
overloading, the President urged the authorities to ensure a
strict enforcement of traffic rules on all highways and roads
to minimize the chances of such hapless occurrences.
The President expressed his deep sorrow and grief over the
loss of lives in the accident. In a message to the bereaved
families, he prayed to Allah Almighty to grant courage and
fortitude to them to bear the irreparable loss.
Another 3 killed, 25 injured in Okara Road Accident
Amid swelling road disasters in diverse areas of Pakistan, yet
another three persons were killed, including a Social Welfare
Officer of DHQ hospital Okara, while 25 others sustained
injuries in a road mishap at Renala Khurd by-pass, Saturday.
Police says, a speedy bus (LXX-6751) rammed into the
motorcycle of SWO Ch. Saeed near Renala Khurd by-pass. As a
result, SWO Ch Saeed Ahmed, his co-rider and a bus passenger,
Tahira w/o Riasat of Chaudhry Park Lahore, died on the spot.
Passengers of the bus, about 25, received multiple injuries
and were rushed to RHC Renala Khurd and DHQ hospital Okara.
Injured
The condition of three is stated to be critical. Those
identified amongst the injured are Fehmida Bibi, Sana Mahmood,
Shamim, Saif-ur-Rehman, Raabia, Saira and Nadia Bibi.
Coach kills two, injures
one in Karachi
'Pakistan Times' Staff Correspondent, Hussain Baloch
reports that at least two persons were killed and another
injured by a speeding coach in Karachi Saturday night.
Both the deceased remained unidentified beyond midnight while
the injured was identified as Barat Khan, son of Abdul Karim.
The accident occurred near Sarmast Mazar in the Shershah
vicinity.
All three victims of the accident were shifted to Civil
Hospital where the injured was under treatment and the
deceased put through post-mortem.
Police impounded the involved Ilyas Coach No. PE-4518, driver
of which, however, escaped and astonishingly 'unidentified.'
