SRINAGAR
(Indian Held-Kashmir): The All Parties Hurriyat Conference in
a meeting in Srinagar today, attended by all its constituents,
decided that Indian Republic Day on Monday will be observed as
Black Day, marked by complete strike.
The APHC Chairman, Syed Ali Gilani presided over the meeting,
which noted with satisfaction that international community is
now more conscious of the need for resolving Kashmir issue.
The meeting also underlined the fact that Kashmir issue was
projected at the world level by the sacred blood of about one
hundred thousand Kashmiris who sacrificed their lives for
achieving their birth right of self determination.
The APHC spokesman, after the meeting said, observance of
Black Day will convey a clear message to the world community
that India has been trampling all democratic norms and
international laws by denying Kashmiris their birth right to
self determination. He said, Kashmiris on that day will once
again renew their pledge that they will continue their
liberation struggle, despite Indian state terrorism.
Meanwhile, military security precautions have been further
beefed up particularly in Srinagar and Jammu. Troops are
swarming Bakhshi stadium in Srinagar and Maulana Azad stadium
in Jammu where official functions are held on Indian Republic
Day. Siege and search operations continued all across occupied
Kashmir, particularly in major towns, during which innocent
people were victimized.
JKLF supports strike call on January 26
In occupied
Kashmir, Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) has
supported strike call on January 26, the Indian Republic Day.
A spokesman of the Front said that Kashmiris will continue
observing this day as a "Black Day" till they get their
freedom from India.
It may be recalled All Parties Hurriyat Conference has already
appealed for observing January 26 as "Black Day" besides
holding complete strike on that date.
Meanwhile, JKLF leaders have been visiting various towns and
cities in connection with the signature campaign launched by
the party to ascertain peoples' verdict on the point that they
should be associated with any dialogue on Kashmir issue.
Security tightened in IHK on eve of Indian Republic Day
Indian troops have
intensified security and red alert sounded in all across
occupied Kashmir on the eve of the Indian Republic Day on 26th
of this month.
The security apparatus was stepped up following recovery of
explosive material near the Bakhshi stadium in Srinagar, which
is venue for the Republic Day celebrations. All major roads
and squares leading to the stadium have been cordoned.
Security has also been upgraded around all major installations
including Secretariat, puppet Assembly, puppet Chief
Minister's house and railway station. The troops have
increased patrolling along their camps and more barricades
have been established.
Red alert has been sounded in areas adjacent to the Bakhshi
stadium and additional troops have been deployed there to keep
vigil on all incoming and outgoing people. The troops on the
pretext of security arrangements were harassing and torturing
innocent civilians. During crackdowns and search operations
residents are being forced to remain outside their houses in
extreme cold and identity parades of youth are being
conducted. During the operations the troops disgrace women and
torture the aged.
