Use of Mobile Phones during Drive Banned in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: Capital Territory Police has announced to ban the use of mobile phones during the drive to reduce the accidental rates in the federal capital. This was disclosed by a senior official of Islamabad Capital Territory Police (ICT) while talking to Pakistan's news agency, INP on Saturday.

The official said that the most of the accidents occur due to negligence of the drivers while using the mobile phones during driving the vehicles. He said to ensure the implementation of this law, “we will launch a awareness campaign for the public asking them not to use mobile phones during drive and use dim lights during the journey at night.

“For this purpose we were going to start special awareness classes for a week to guide the drivers specially ladies”, he added.

He was of the view that these special classes will helpful for the residents of the capital and this will also helpful for the deduction of the accidental rates.

He went on to say that we were going to take serious action against the vehicles with tinted glass adding that most of the vehicles with these types of glasses had found involved in the different crimes. “Strict action will be taken against under age drivers and those without having license”, he assured.

He said that we have very strict policy to issue new licenses with having the entire necessary test necessary for a driver. He said the after introducing the challan ticketing system capital police have recovered over millions revenue in the last two years and ratio of law violation decreased.

Official claimed that we have manage the transport system and were going to ban the old and smoke emitting vehicles form the territory to insure a neat and clean atmosphere.

He informed that more than 500 special sergeants have been deployed on the different points to control the flow of traffic and to monitor the law violators.

Meanwhile SP traffic Zubair Hashmi said that this is new prohibition would be help full in the deduction of road accidents. Hashmi said that it has noticed that while using the mobile phone drivers lose their concentrations that cause an accidents.
