MULTAN: A big cache of
hashish weighing 2500 kg (2.5 tons) was seized by the district
Multan Police here Tuesday.
DPO Multan, Hamid Mukhtar
Gondal, told newsmen that the drug-peddler, Zulfikar of
Faisalabad, was held from Dera Muhammadi, in the jurisdiction
of Mumtazabad Police.
He said the drug-pusher is a convicted ex-PIA employee, who
succeeded in sending a consignment weighing 36 tons to USA and
was sentenced to nine years RI by a court of law in the
country. Two years earlier he was released from jail.
Destination
The DPO said the captured cache was to be sent to Serra Leon,
where its market price would have been Rs 250 million.
Other members of the gang included Sarfraz and Muhabbat Khan
of Landi Kotal and Sharif of Serra Leon. They are absconding.
Those police officers who participated in the operation are
DSP Haram Gate circle Habib Khan, SHO Haram Gate Saifullah
Gujjar and SHO Pak Gate Rao Muhammad Ajmal. The DPO has
recommended cash prizes and commendatory certificates for the
raiding party including two SHOs, two ASIs and seven
constables.
