Alleged Leader of outlawed Lashkar-e-Jhangvi Nabbed in Pakistan

KARACHI: An alleged leader of banned religious organisation, Lashkar Jhangvi, was arrested here Tuesday alongwith his accomplice by the police.

At a news conference here, DIG Operations, Tariq Jamil said that Mohammed Attar alias Khalid Memon alias Kala was arrested in a raid from a house in Nazimabad No 3. His other accomplice was identified as Sajid Jabbar alias Bhudda.

The accused, he said, were involved in 13 cases of terrorism including parcel bomb attacks on the offices of the police department.

The DIG said that one Kalashnikov, 9 pistols, 6 hand grenades, 5 silencers, 250 live bullets, 250 kg of explosive material, detonators were recovered from the house in the raid.

Literature related to terrorism, fake identity cards, and passports were also recovered.

Meanwhile, a foreign news agency quoting an anonymous police official reports that Sajid Jabbar was suspected of involvement in the kidnapping and murder of Wall Street Journal reporter Pearl in 2002 as well as several other militant attacks.
