Telecommunication Company Ltd has reduced the telephone
shifting charges by 50 percent from existing Rs 1000 to Rs
500.
Earlier the PTCL customers had to pay Rs 1000 as telephone
shifting charges. Similarly Rs 500 will be charged for
shifting of a telephone from one to other telephone exchange.
Senior Vice-President PTCL Tanvir Ahmed said on Friday that
the charges of Rs 500 for transfer of a telephone connection
from one customer to other customer, has also been done away
with.
However, the procedure for the purpose will continue to be the
same and an
applicant will have to fulfil all formalities.
He said the PTCL has also withdrawn the condition of security
deposit for an ISD connection receiving a bill for Rs 3000 or
above and who are paying the same regularly.
Tanvir said that a new procedure is in practice since June
2003 in respect of connection of a permanently closed
telephone. For reopening of a permanently closed telephone,
the customer will have to pay all outstanding dues and two
month line rent. He will also have to pay Rs 500 as
restoration charges.
Tanvir said that a closed telephone will be reopened after
payment of all bills and wherever technically possible.
