PTCL reduces Shifting Fee by 50%
Pakistan Times Federal Bureau Report

KARACHI: Pakistan Telecommunication Company Ltd has reduced the telephone shifting charges by 50 percent from existing Rs 1000 to Rs 500.

Earlier the PTCL customers had to pay Rs 1000 as telephone shifting charges. Similarly Rs 500 will be charged for shifting of a telephone from one to other telephone exchange.

Senior Vice-President PTCL Tanvir Ahmed said on Friday that the charges of Rs 500 for transfer of a telephone connection from one customer to other customer, has also been done away with.

However, the procedure for the purpose will continue to be the same and an
applicant will have to fulfil all formalities.

He said the PTCL has also withdrawn the condition of security deposit for an ISD connection receiving a bill for Rs 3000 or above and who are paying the same regularly.

Tanvir said that a new procedure is in practice since June 2003 in respect of connection of a permanently closed telephone. For reopening of a permanently closed telephone, the customer will have to pay all outstanding dues and two month line rent. He will also have to pay Rs 500 as restoration charges.

Tanvir said that a closed telephone will be reopened after payment of all bills and wherever technically possible.
