Rajendra's double century helps India upset Blind World Champ Pakistan

KARACHI: Southpaw Ranjendra Varma slammed an unbeaten double hundred as India shocked Blind World Champions Pakistan by massive 151-runs in third One-day International at National Stadium Tuesday.

Totally blind Varma, who hit an unbeaten 138 in the second one-dayer at same venue on Sunday, hit four boundaries in his 122-ball 200 as India raced to 409 for two wickets in their 40 overs after put to bat first by Abdul Razzaq.

Pakistan in reply were bowled out for 248 in 29 overs with opener Muhammad Fayyaz hitting 63 off 44 balls with seven hits to the boundary.

With this comprehensive triumph, Indian kept five-match series alive with two matches to be played at Sheikhupura on February 27 and at Rawalpindi on February 29. Pakistan blind team won the first one-dayer by eight wicket at Qaddafi Stadium Lahore and registered four wicket success in the second tie at Karachi.

As per the blind cricket rules, batsmen in "B1" category of totally blind are awarded double score for every run, they make. A boundary get them eight runs. Varma on one occasion on an overthrow got ten runs.

After opener Shekhar Naik went after making 21, Indian skipper Manvender Singh, who fell in partially blind (B2) category with Rajendra added 200-run for the second wicket. Manvender made 79 in 69-balls with five hits to the ropes. Vishal Kumar hit 33 in 36 balls and forced to retire hurt after was a ball hit on his foot.

Rajendra Singh was named man of the match for his grand double hundred.
