RAWALPINDI: A
comprehensive security plan has been chalked out for Indian
and Pakistani cricket teams staying here to play their second
one-day international at Rawalpindi on Tuesday.
Police sources said a high
level meeting chaired by Inspector General of Police (IGP),
Islamabad, Fiaz Ahmad Khan Toru, Sunday decided to ensure
elaborate security cover to the Indian, and Pakistani,
cricketers during their stay in the Federal Capital.
Pakistani security officials
have been going to great lengths to arrange the security for
the teams.
The match at Karachi went
off smoothly. There was strict security in force particularly
for the Indian tourists at the teams' hotel here on Sunday.
The two teams will have net
sessions at Pindi Cricket Stadium on Monday on the eve of the
second One Day International and the team officials were to
speak to the journalists only at the stadium, the
media-persons were told.
Pakistan, Indian
cricket teams arrive in Islamabad
Earlier on Saturday night,
Pakistani and Indian cricket teams arrived here to play the second One Day International (ODI) at Pindi
Cricket Stadium.
The officials of the
Punjab Cricket Association, representatives of the local
administration received the two teams at Islamabad
International Airport.
Indian captain Sourav
Ganguly said that his team was prepared to face tough fight
from the home team as happened during the opening ODI at
Karachi. He said he has full confidence in strong batting
line-up which, he said was their main weapon against Pakistan.
Pakistan captain
Inzamam-ul-Haq said his team was very much capable of making a
comeback despite losing the first ODI at Karachi.
