Tribal Operation: Martyrs Toll Mounts to 15

PESHAWAR: The death toll in the encounter at Azam Warsak in South Waziristan Agency on Thursday has risen to 15 while 22 others received injuries.

Credible sources told 'Pakistan Times' Wednesday night that "the death toll of Frontier Corps in Wana operation has risen from eight to 15 whereas the number of injured stands at 22."

Burial of Martyrs


Hundreds of people offered the funeral prayers for the 8 troops killed during the Wana operations. The funeral prayers were held at Kalo Shah Scouts camps on.

Of the total martyrs in the operation against suspected terrorists in western part of Wana in South Waziristan, which ended Tuesday evening, eight martyrs’ corps of the Frontier Corps were sent to their parental home areas on Wednesday.

Funeral prayer of the eight martyrs of the Frontier Corps was performed at the Scout camp of South Waziristan, whilst preparation for other martyrs’ funeral prayer was underway.

Wana Situation Turning Normal


Meanwhile, Director General Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), Maj Gen Shaukat Sultan, while talking 'Pakistan Times' from Islamabad, said Wednesday that after operation against suspected terrorists in western part of Wana in South Waziristan had ended Tuesday evening and the situation is now turning normal.

No New Episode


“With the end of the operation, no further firing was made”, said Gen. Sultan by adding, “No further incident of battle between the paramilitary troops and the terrorists happened.”

Talking about fatality, he said 15 persons of the paramilitary troop were martyred while 22 injured in the strident battle in Wana. Nearly 24 terrorists were killed and of those two corps were brought along with, told ISPR Chief.

Terrorists Attacked

Rockets were also fired on the terrorist who were trying to flee, which destroyed their vehicles and some terrorists were also killed.

Similarly, vehicles of the Frontier core were also fired and destroyed by the terrorist, and exact number of such vehicles is yet known.

The Martyrs

Meanwhile the number of FC personnel who lost lives died has reached to 15.

The names of the martyrs are Jaffar Husain, Zakir Hussain, Saleem Khan, Goahr Ali, Lal Mir, Ghazi Marjan, Ashfaq, Aya Khan, Tika Khan, Khan Wali, Rafeeq, Naik Naam, Bakh, Israel, Suleman and Mir Zaman.

No army personal among those Martyred


Pakistan's Interior Minister Faisal Saleh Hayat has said no military personnel was among those martyred in Wana operation on Tuesday.

The operation was conducted by paramilitary forces and eight Jawans of Frontier Corps have been martyred.

'Nothing to Worry'

The Minister denied the impression that people of Wana were fleeing from their homes. He said the place where operation started Tuesday is about ten to twelve kilometers from Wana.

Local population has nothing to worry about the operation which is focused against terrorists only, Faisal said.

Explosion


And a report from Tank says that an explosion at the gate of political administration office South Waziristan Agency at Tank late Wednesday night, caused partial damage to a pillar.
