Delhi police arrest Kashmiri lecturer, his sister

NEW DELHI (India): In India, the Delhi police illegally arrested a Kashmiri lecturer and his sister under false charges.

The Delhi police raided the hostel of Jamia Millia, New Delhi around 2.00 a.m. and took into custody Sajjad Ahmad Lone, lecturer in electronics at Jamia's engineering college besides his sister a student of M.Sc Agriculture at the University. Both the brother and sister were incarcerated at a special cell on Lodhi road in the Indian capital.

They were harassed during interrogation which continued for the whole night. They were later released at the intervention of university authorities.

It may be recalled that some time ago a Kashmiri lecturer of Jamia Millia Abdur Rehman Gilani was arrested by Delhi police by framing him in the Mujahideen attack on Indian parliament. He was sentenced to death by a POTA court but later set free by Delhi high court acquitting him of all charges.●
