CJCSC, VCOAS assume Charge; Meet President Musharraf

RAWALPINDI: Chairman Joint Chiefs of the Staff Committee, General Ehsan Ul Haq called on President General Pervez Musharraf on Friday after assuming charge of his office.

The President congratulated General Ehsan Ul Haq on his well-deserved promotion and wished him all the success in his new responsibilities.

The Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee thanked the President and said that he would do his utmost to live up to the trust reposed in him.

VCOAS Meets

Later, Vice Chief of the Army Staff, General Ahsan Saleem Hayat, also called on President General Pervez Musharraf after assuming charge of his office.

The President congratulated him on his promotion and expressed the hope that under his leadership the operational capability of Pakistan Army would be further enhanced.

The Vice Chief of Army Staff thanked the President and expressed his resolve to work for the betterment of Pakistan Army.

Assume Charge

Earlier, the Chairman Joint Chiefs of the Staff Committee, General Ehsan ul Haq and Vice Chief of the Army Staff, General Ahsan Saleem Hyat assumed charge of their new offices on Friday.

A simple but impressive ceremony was held at the Joint Staff Headquarters to formally welcome the newly appointed Chairman Joint Chiefs of the Staff Committee, General Ehsan ul Haq on assuming charge of the new appointment.

On arrival at the Joint Services Headquarters, the Director General Joint Staff, Lieutenant General Shahid Siddiq Tirmizey received him.

A smartly turned out contingent of the tri-services presented general salute to the Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee. He also reviewed the parade. Principal Staff Officers were also present on the occasion.

Ceremony at GHQ

A similar ceremony was held at the General Headquarters to formally welcome the newly appointed Vice Chief of the Army Staff, General Ahsan Saleem Hyat on assuming charge of the new appointment.

On arrival at the General headquarters, the Chief of General Staff, Lieutenant General Tariq Majid received him.

A smartly turned out contingent of the Azad Kashmir Regiment presented general salute to the Vice Chief of Army Staff. He also reviewed the parade. Principal Staff Officers were also present on the occasion.●
