Ten including 5 Indian troops killed in Kashmir violence

SRINAGAR (India held-Kashmir): Five Indian army personnel including a Captain were killed and 45 others injured when a car packed with explosives rammed into an army convoy in Baramulla district Saturday.

The incident occurred in Singhpora village, 24 kilometres south of Srinagar. An army vehicle was completely destroyed. The entire area has been sealed and traffic on the highway suspended. The injured, most of them Indian soldiers were hurriedly shifted to a military hospital in Srinagar.

Indian troops, in their stepped up state terrorism, martyred five more Kashmiris including a 15 years old boy at Chokibal in Kupwara, Kulgam in Islamabad, Gool in Ramban and Banikot in Poonch.

Unidentified gunmen fired and injured critically a religious scholar, Maulana Mushtaq Ahmad Khan in Mattan.

Indian army crackdown on village


Indian troops at Sangam Bandana in Bijbehara beat up villagers and decamped with cash of Rs 50,000 during a crackdown.

Indian troops cordoned off Bandana village and assembled people at one place. During the search operation troops could not find anything objectionable but in the house of one Ama Butt they looted Rs 50,000/-.

After the operation, when the family came to know about it, they lodged a strong protest. Irked by the protest troops severely beat up villagers injuring several of them.

However, people continued protest forcing troops to return the cash. The villagers also took to streets expressing their anger and resentment against the torture of five persons during crackdown.●
