LAHORE: India's ex-Prime
Minister Inder Kumar Gujral on Friday, said Kashmir issue is still on the
top of the Indian foreign policy agenda and urged the leaderships of
Pakistan and India to continue the dialogue progress to resolve all issues.
"Non-cooperation is more explosive than cooperation in the sub-continent-I
see a ray of hope for the progress and peace in the region now", I.K.Gujral
said while addressing Lahore High Court Bar here Friday.
Gujral who is currently on a two-day visit, would attend meeting of South
Asians for Human Rights (SAHR) as Chairman of the Indian chapter.
New Avenues
In his thirty minute speech Gujral suggested that both countries should
explore new avenues for mutual cooperation, specially in stumping out
terrorism from the region.
He stressed that the ASEAN countries, including Bhutan, should explore their
joint economic potential for the progress and development of their masses.
He also suggested establishing a South Asian University which could help
educate people of the member countries.
Gujral was visibly pleased at the Bar's reception and recalled that he was
visiting Lahore High Court Bar for second time as he had appeared in the
same court as a culprit for participating the political movement in 1943.●
