Four killed, Div. Commissioner survives life attempt in H-Kashmir

SRINAGAR: In occupied Kashmir, unknown armed men gunned down four persons including three members of the same family.

Gunmen barged into the house of Muhammad Yousaf Malik, a government teacher in village Salbala near Gool, district Doda and resorted to indiscriminate firing killing two and injuring two others. They kidnapped Malik's brother Ghulam Muhammad Malik and beheaded him in a nearby field.

Muhammad Yousaf Malik and his mother Jameela Begum were the other two family members killed by attackers. Malik's wife and son were injured in the firing.

Meanwhile, unidentified gunmen shot dead 18 year old girl Saada Bano and injured her brother Muhammad Ashraf in Senabathi area of Ramban Tehsil of Doda.

Divisional Commissioner survives life attempt


Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Khurshid Ahmad Ganai had a miraculous escape when he was attacked at Kiloora-Shopian.

One of his personal guards was injured and damage was caused to his escort vehicle. Ganai had gone to Baskuchan-Nowpora to offer condolences to the bereaved family of an employee of his office who had passed away.

When the divisional commissioner was returning back the attackers who were hiding fired upon him near Kiloora-Shopian. The fire was returned by the police personnel accompanying Ganai and the cross firing continued for some time. The divisional commissioner escaped unhurt but one of his personal guards constable Fayaz Ahmad was seriously injured.

The escort vehicle was also badly damaged in the firing. The attack on the Divisional Commissioner comes two days after an attack on Omar Abdullah, National Conference Chairman.●
