Fight with terrorists continues as blasts injure Six in Pakistan Tribal belt

PESHAWAR: As the fighting between the terrorists and the security forces in the South Waziristan Agency continued on Friday, more than half a dozen persons which included four security personnel were injured in the land-mine explosions and rocket attacks by the trouble makers in the area. The condition of a personnel was described as critical.

Some nine security men were killed and more than a dozen sustained injuries in land-mine blasts in two different incidents in the Agency on Thursday.

Clashes Up-date


Reports reaching here from Wana, South Waziristan Agency indicate that peace is yet to return to this southern tribal belt where pitched battle between the alleged terrorists and the troops was going on without any pause and there are reports of skirmishes between the two sides in many areas in the South Waziristan Agency including Carwan Manza, Jalendher and Sarai mountains.

Reports speak of casualties from both sides but that could not be confirmed by the authentic sources.

Wana Episode


In the meanwhile, at least four men of the security forces were seriously injured in a land-mine explosion in the Rustam Bazar Wana on Friday.

Reports said the land-mine explosion or what some reports suggest was a remote controlled blast, took place when a convoy of the security forces heading towards Mehsud area at around 1. 30 pm. While the four injured security personnel were rushed to the hospital for treatment, one of the victims was stated to be in precarious condition.

Some reports said a five-year old child was injured when the infuriated security men resorted to firing in retaliation.

Scout Camp under attack

The Wana Scouts camp, as the reports say, again came under attack by the miscreants who fired three missiles on the camp in the night between Thursday and Friday.

While one missile landed in front of the United Bank Wana damaging the bank and the adjacent buildings, a civilian recognized as Mohammad Yaqoob was reported injured. Another missile exploded in front of the upper camp officers’ mess causing damage to the mess building.●
