Pakistan attends 2-day ASEAN moot in Beijing

BEIJING (China): Senior officers from Pakistan and other 23 members of the ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF) met here on Friday to explore ways and means to strengthen their defence cooperation in fighting non-traditional threats.

Pakistan is being represented at the meeting by additional secretary Defence Air Vice Marshal Maqbool Ali Shah and spokesman Ministry of Foreign Affairs Masood Khan.

The Agenda

The two-day meeting will cover topics such as the international and regional security situations, an introduction to the security policies of each nation and a discussion of the role of defence departments in preventing non-traditional security threat.

It aimed at promoting participation of the defence officers in the ARF and enhance mutual trust and understanding to address the security issues.

The participants will also visit a Beijing-based military unit and watch a mock operation against terror.●
