'Pakistan Govt to respect SC decision in Dr AQ Khan Case'

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan's Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Sheikh Rashid Ahmed has said that government will respect Supreme Court’s decision in Pakistan's top nuclear scientist Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan’s case.

“I think when the case has gone to Supreme Court, let the court decide it. Whatever decision the court takes it will be respected”, the Minister told BBC Radio.

Appointment of Doctors

Commenting on the pledge of Dr. A.Q Khan’s lawyers about appointment of doctors on the choice of Dr. Khan he said, “I do not think it is such a great issue”, adding however who are dealing it legally will be able to answer this question in better way.

Asked if the Supreme Court orders release of Dr. Qadeer Khan will the government do it the Minister replied in affirmation.

'We Will Release Him'

“We will release him”, he said and added whatever is being done is for his own benefit. He has not been kept in any jail. He has not been kept in that kind of atmosphere.

To a question he said, now when the lawyers of Dr. A.Q. Khan have gone to the Supreme Court, the government will of course submit its own version.●
