RCCI hails CBR decision for abolishing field audit system in Pakistan

RAWALPINDI: Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) has welcomed Central Board of Revenue CBR decision for abolishing the field audit system and introducing desk audit system.

The step would guide the country towards new horizons of economic stability besides generating more revenue, said Najam Rahan President RCCI here on Monday while addressing a meeting.

He said that the interference of tax and government officials in industrial and business was creating the element of harassment among the business circles.

He noted that field audit system was not producing any revenue for government except keeping the tax payer away from the tax system. Confidence building measures taken by CBR would help in making the system easy and abolish the ambiguities besides bringing more people into the tax net, he added.

He called upon government to facilitate tax payers so that business class is able to compete in the international market and meet the future economic challenges. He also hailed government ongoing tax reforms by streamlining the tax system which has earned a good name among the industrialists, investors, exporters and business community.

The meeting was attended by Vice President RCCI Syed Asad Mashadi, Former president Hussain Ahmed Ozgen, members executive committee Nabi Nowsherwan Erkin, Mian Habib Ullah, Kashif Shabbir, Asad Malik, Manzar Khurshed Sheikh and others.

President RCCI commenting over the government economic  policies and relief given in tax regime observed that  government wanted to create tax culture in the country and therefore is trying to provide maximum relief and facilitation to the business community.

He said that by streamlining the tax system and making it business and investor friendly the government has succeeded in getting confidence of the business class which would help to in further strengthening the socio economic structure of the country.●
