ISLAMABAD: A group of
nearly 20 journalists from Indian held part of the Jammu and Kashmir State
will visit Azad Kashmir for nearly a week from Nov. 23 as part of Pakistan
government's policy to promote contacts, Indian Daily Greater Kashmir
reported.
The Kashmiri journalists will form part of an Indian delegation that has
been invited by South Asia Free Media Association to participate in a
seminar on press freedom in Lahore on Nov. 20-21.
The First Visit
It is for the first time that a journalists delegation from Indian-held
Kashmir has been allowed by the Indian government to visit Pakistan, and by
Pakistan to visit Azad Kashmir, the report quoted an organizer of the
conference as saying.
After the seminar, non-Kashmiri journalists from India will return home,
while Kashmiri journalists will visit Mirpur, the second biggest city of
Azad Kashmir.
They will meet the Kashmir Committee headed by veteran politician Hamid
Nasir Chatha in Islamabad and later visit Muzaffarabad and Gilgit.
The visit by Kashmiri journalists will take place a month after a similar
visit by Pakistani journalists to Indian-held Jammu and Kashmir.●
