PESHAWAR: While the top
leadership of the Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA) has said it would resort to
Gherao of Islamabad on December-19 'if President Musharraf failed to
announce shedding his uniform by that time', the Chief of Pakistan
Tehreek-e-Insaaf Imran Khan fully backed the religious alliance and called
upon the masses 'to extend all-out support to the MMA against America and in
ridding the country of the present ruling set-up.'
The MMA leaders including its Chief Qazi Hussain Ahmad and leader of the
opposition in the National Assembly Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman were addressing a
big public rally at Batkhela (Malakand Agency) on Tuesday in con-nection
with the election campaign of Bakhtiar Maani, the alliance candidate for the
NA 36 by-elections.
The PTI chief and legendary cricketer Imran Khan also joined the
religio-political leaders of the country in the rally and fully supported
their contention.
Open War
Imran Khan asked the leadership of the religious alliance to strive for
bringing together all the political forces of the country sans the ruling
PML, against the US aggressions and brutalities. While reiterating its
stance about the President uniform, the MMA leadership said it was “an open
war” against the US and imperial forces as well as their supporters and
would make an important announcement against President Pervez Musharraf in
Rawalpindi rally on December 19.
The MMA and PTI leadership was unanimous that; 'President Musharraf was only
pursuing the US policies and serving her interests in the region and has
caused irreparable blow to people of Pakistan as well as the Islam.'
Imran said; 'Gen Musharraf’s slogan of the moderate and enlightened Islam
was only meant to appease US. He lamented that today the Muslims all over
the globe were being subjected to worst kind of US brutalities but no one
was raising voice over that and certain Muslim rulers were only trying to
please Washington.
Qazi said the grand Malakand rally has proved that the people would ensure
the victory of MMA candidate here.
Fazl Censures PPP, ANP
Leader of the Opposition Maulna Fazl-ur-Rehman blasted PPP and Awami
National Party (ANP) for conspiring against the religious alliance and said
had PPP supported MMA, Gen Musharraf would not have been in power any
longer.
He also charged both the parties of extending full support to Musharraf in
the referendum.●
