Pakistan Govt relaxes Visa
policy for Investors

ISLAMABAD: The Government
of Pakistan has decided to ease visa policy for foreign businessmen and
investors for promoting investment in the country and has directed the
Interior Ministry to take immediate measures to this effect.
The decision to this effect was taken at a meeting chaired by Prime Minister
Shaukat Aziz on Friday. The session was attended by Interior Minister Aftab
Ahmed Sherpao and other senior officials of the Interior Ministry.
The Prime Minister said that in order to increase country’s exports and
investment it is imperative that visa policy is softened for foreign
businessmen and investors so that their reservations on investing in
Pakistan are removed.
He said with the new visa policy not only investment in the country would be
increased but foreign investors’confidence in Pakistan would be restored.
Shaukat Aziz said that the government would provide all necessary security
to foreign investors and has asked the Interior Ministry to take measures to
this effect.
Interior Minister Aftab Ahmed Khan Sherpao and other Interior Ministry
officials briefed the Prime Minister on the salient features of the new visa
policy and said that the policy would be announced as soon as all details in
this regard are worked out.
According to the new visa policy all foreign investors would be given visas
at the airports and all necessary assistance would be provided to them when
their visa expires during their stay in Pakistan and the visas would be
extended without any delay.●
