Pakistan not to allow Dr A Q Khan’s investigation
Pakistan Times Federal Bureau Report

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Friday ruled out possibility of allowing any outside agency to question or investigate country's top nuclear scientist Dr. A.Q. Khan, saying the country has full confidence in its investigating system.

Foreign Office Spokesman Masood Khan described a news report in this regard as speculative and baseless.

The news report has claimed that Pakistan may allow the UN nuclear investigators to put questions to Dr. Khan.

“No we have not received any such request,” he replied when asked if Pakistan has received any request from UN investigators in this respect.

Reiterating Pakistan’s position on the issue, he said, the government has full confidence in the efficacy of its investigative system and procedures.

“For questions or investigation, no outside agency will be given access to Dr. A. Q. Khan or any other Pakistani scientist,” he said while adding, “speculation in this regard was baseless”.

Khan said there will be no direct or indirect investigations or testimonies conducted by outside agencies or persons.

However, he added, Pakistan would continue to extend its cooperation with the IAEA and the international community to neutralize international black market for proliferation.●
