Prime Minister pledges clean, quick
justice in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister
Shaukat Aziz Wednesday said the government would continue to work for the
protection of life and property of the people and ensure provision of
justice to them at all cost.
Addressing representatives of bar association from across the country here
at Prime Minister House, he said improvement in the judicial system is
directly linked with overall betterment of other institutions and to ensure
progress and prosperity of the country.
He said the government would seek proposals and suggestions from the bar
associations of the country to improve the judicial system for its
betterment as the government considered that ‘justice delay is justice
denied.’
The Prime Minister said unfortunately there has been delay of years in the
decision of cases by the courts, and the people have to wait for justice
which increased their problems.
Referring to his recent address to the nation, the Prime Minister said the
government has taken measures to improve the judicial system for the benefit
of common man and making certain amendments in various laws.
He said, provision of justice is the most important thing for healthy
society. He also refereed the decision taken by the government to make
certain amendments to improve stay-order system to expedite the disposal of
cases.
The Prime Minister said the Police system is being improved with betterment
of police discipline and enhancing its performance.
Shaukat Aziz said under Access to Justice Programme (AJP) , basic facilities
of the judiciary are being improved.
New buildings of the courts are being constructed while special training
courses have been initiated for judges and lawyers. The bar associations, he
said, are being accommodated in these training courses.
The Prime Minister said necessary law books are being provided to the bar
associations and more funds would be allocated to fulfil their requirements.
Shaukat Aziz said the vacant posts of the judges are being filled without
any delay besides increasing allowances and privileges of the judges.
He said it was also important that investigation is conducted impartially,
with full justice and it has also been decided that a police official
conducting investigation with malafide intentions will have to face the law.
He said laws are further being improved to make it easier for women to be
released on bail.
The environment of courts will also be improved, with provision of better
offices and facilities, and will help quicker dispensation of justice.
Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz said he has directed the ministry of law and
justice to make necessary changes in the laws so as to ease the problems of
the masses.
The representatives of the bar associations, expressing their full support
appreciated the steps taken by the government to improve the judicial
system.They said the government should consult all the stakeholder of
judicial system to improve it with legal reforms.●
