Five activists of Lashkar-e-Jhangvi held in Punjab

MULTAN: Police on Monday arrested five activists of the outlawed Lashkar-e-Jhangvi from Multan district, who, during interrogation, disclosed that they had been given the task of getting funds for meeting the expenditures of the outfit and buying sophisticated weapons for terrorist activities.

The arrested terrorists admitted that they had to stop their activities due to paucity of resources. The group had planned to get money through robberies for their ‘mission’ of eliminating their rival sect.

Terrorist plans


The LJ activists revealed their future terrorist plans targeting Lahore and Karachi. They said they were also involved in the release of the most-wanted group members, including Ijaz alias Jajji Tarar, Tariq Tipu, Shahnawaz Kalhor, Zakiullah and Aziz Kutana, from Dera Ghazi Khan district jail.

Multan DPO Rao Sikandar Hayat, in a press conference on Monday, said the arrested accused were identified as Haji Muhammad Sadiq (Noorpur Noranga), Bilal Laang (Jalalpur Pirwala), Bilal Shahzad Bathi (Khairpur Tamewali), Qari Abdul Hamid (Fazilpur) and Faiz Rasool.

He added the police recovered weapons and ammunition from them. Their accomplices Saeed alias Umar Bahi, Amjad alias Shah Gul alias Shah Wali, Talah alias Khan, Muhammad Ali alias Qari Zahid, Kashif Niyiazi were still at large.●
