Pakistani players' bus overturned in
India, six hurt

LUDHIANA (India): Six
Pakistani sportsmen were injured when a bus carrying them was overturned
near Ludhiana while they were returning back home after participating in
Punjab Games in Patiala, Indian TV reported on Sunday.

players was overturned in a village near Ludhiana.

Six Pakistani badminton players were injured Sunday in a bus accident near
the northern Indian city of Ludhiana.
Two players, whose names were not immediately available, suffered head
injuries but four others escaped with minor injuries when the bus overturned
en route to the Wagah land border between India and Pakistan.
The bus on which the badminton players were traveling formed part of a
10-bus convoy taking athletes from the Indian city of Patiala to the
Pakistan border.
The athletes were returning after participating in the inaugural East-West
Punjab Games featuring athletes from the Punjab provinces in India and
Pakistan that concluded in Patiala on Saturday.
“Scans were done on the two players who suffered head injuries before they
resumed the journey back home,” said Anurag Verma, Ludhiana’s deputy
commissioner.
Verma said two ambulances would accompany the convoy of busses till the
Wagah border. The second edition of the East-West Punjab Games will be
staged next year in Pakistan.●
