Travel Agents Association to boycott
British Airways in Pakistan

LAHORE: Travel Agents
Association of Pakistan (TAAP) has decided to boycott British Airways and
not to sell its tickets from Thursday in a protest against the Airlines
management decision to reduce their commission from nine percent to seven
percent.
Addressing a press conference at Lahore Press Club on Wednesday, Chairman of
the Association Ashfaq Ahmed Mirza said that all other airlines are giving
nine percent commission while British Airways has decided to cut their
commission by two percent from February 1,2005 without any reason which
cannot be accepted.
Other office bearers of the TAAP were also present on the occasion.
The Deadline
He said , "TAAP has given 15 days time to the airlines authorities to
withdraw decision regarding reduction of travel agents' commission but as,
they have not responded positively, we are left with no option but to go for
boycott."
To yet another question, he admitted that British Airways is one of the best
airways of the world, but hastened to add that some other airlines operating
from Pakistan are also providing equally good service.●
