Govt did not receive any application to renew Zardari's passport: Sherpao

ISLAMABAD: Minister for Interior Aftab Ahmed Khan Sherpao Wednesday said government has not received any application from Asif Ali Zardari for renewal of his passport.

Talking to state-run television channel, he said "We have not received any application from PPPP leader Asif Ali Zardari for renewal of his passport."

Action will be taken in accordance with law if the government receives any application from Asif Ali Zardari, the Minister said..

He said assertion of Asif Ali Zardari on different private television channels that renewal of his passport had been denied, has no substance.

Zardari's Plea

An earlier report, quoting Asif Ali Zardari said that the passport office had turned down his application for issuance of a new passport.

He said; 'the passport office authorities have told that no new passport will be issued till my name was not deleted from the exit control list'.

Zardari said his last two passports got expired during his long-term imprisonment. He was using a diplomatic and a private passport in the past.

Asif Ali Zardari was bailed-out on Nov. 22 this year after over eight years’ in jail.●
