Road accidents kill 79 in China, India BEIJING (China): At least 62 were killed and 37 were injured in a road accident Tuesday in China's Qinghai province, said sources from the provincial government. The accident occurred when a truck turned over near the Kuola Mountain, about 10 km from Longbao township, Yushu Tibet Autonomous Prefecture of the province. The truck was loaded with
104 passengers who were returning from pilgrimage to Lhasa, capital of Tibet
Autonomous Region. Meanwhile, a bus crashed into a ditch killing at least 17 people in the western Indian state of Maharashtra overnight, police said Tuesday. An unknown number of people were also hurt in the accident that occurred en route from Amravati district to Surat in neighbouring Gujarat, the Press Trust of India reported. The cause of the crash was not immediately clear.● |
