Pakistan's Gomal Zam dam project to start functioning Shortly

DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Gomal Zam Dam project would soon start functioning and would produce 17.4 megawatt electricity.

This was stated by Chairman WAPDA Tariq Hameed during his visit to Gomal Dam project here the other day.

He visited the different sites of the Dam and informed the newsmen that Gomal Zam Dam will irrigate 1,62,000 acres of land and bring prosperity in the country.

He expressed satisfaction over the work of the company and said construction work on Gomal Zam Dam is running accurately and timely.

Senior Vice President of VERSENO Hydro Construction Company and Deputy Manager was also with him. The Chairman WAPDA also observed security arrangements at the project and expressed his satisfaction.

Earlier Lt. Col. M. Iltaf and Wing Commander FC briefed Chairman WAPDA about the plan and progress of Gomal Dam project through map.

Chairman WAPDA Tariq Hameed said that with the construction of Gomal Zam Dam more then 1,62,000 acres of land would be irrigated. In addition to this 17.4 megawatt electricity would be produced.

He said with construction of Gomal Zam Dam, the problems like soil erosion and flood would also be decreased.

He underlined the need for construction of more water reservoirs in the country adding water is the biggest problem country faces today. He said the government was paying due attention to water shortage problem.●
