Ufone to increase its coverage
to 200 Pakistani cities by June ISLAMABAD: Ufone, a leading cellular operator in the country would increase its network services to more than 200 cities by June this year. The company had embarked upon a US$ 166 million plan to increase its connection capacity to 3.5 million and ensure quality services to the subscribers at competitive rates, said Chief Executive Officer, Ufone, Babar Khan. Ina an interview here Sunday, he said, the number of Ufone subscribers has witnessed three-fold increase in one and half year which speaks confidence of the people on company's services. Babar Khan said Ufone network expansion plan also focuses to cover remote areas which would be able to enjoy Ufone's quality services in the coming months. "We will never compromise on quality of service for which we are continuously conducting surveys to get feed back from our customers," he said. Babar Khan said he himself monitors the process of surveys in order to ensure better services. Presently, he said, 1.9 million subscribers are benefitting from the Ufone services and this number would increase by about 5 million in next two years. Answering a question, he said, for redressal of subscribers' complaints and provision of information relating to the services and products of the Company, 150 franchise centres as well as 1000 sub-centres would be established throughout the country soon. He said entrance of new cellular operators in the market would create competitive environment and Ufone would accept this challenge by improving its efficiency and services. "We welcome the competition as this would help increase country's tele-density and ensure better services to the people," he remarked. He said Ufone has recently removed long distance calling charges across its entire network in a bid to facilitate its subscribers and compete with other operators in the market. Now Ufone to Ufone call would be considered as local and the subscribers who will call on the same network would be charged local call, said Babar Khan. Ufone was the first cellular company in Pakistan which introduced revolutionary tariffs along with the most innovative products and services. It is the only GPRS capable network in Pakistan due to which Ufone customers are the only cellular users enjoying services like MMS, Mobile Internet, Mobile Office and other high tech services.● |
