Hizb Commander, 3 soldiers among 7 killed in held-Kashmir
Pakistan Times Kashmir Desk

SRINAGAR: Three Indian army soldiers and a commander of Hizbul Mujahideen group were among seven people killed in latest violence in occupied Kashmir, police said Sunday.

A gun battle near Shopian town left two Indian soldiers dead and another injured, a police spokesman said.

Further in Poonch district, Indian troops shot dead a commander of Hizbul Mujahideen, Khalid Chitrali alias Abu Usman, the spokesman said.

Hizb is the dominant and oldest group fighting against Indian rule in Held Kashmir.

Another Hizb man was shot dead during a clash by troops in Udhampur district, police said, while Mujahideen gunned down a soldier in Doda district overnight.

Police said suspected persons shot dead a Muslim and a Sikh in their houses in Doda and Udhampur districts overnight. No group claimed responsibility for the two killings.

However, armed men often kill people seen collaborating with Indian government.

Seven people died in a battle between mujahideen and security forces at a federal tax office in Srinagar on Saturday.●
