Sacrificial animals start arriving in

LAHORE: Sacrificial animals
have started arriving from different parts of the country to attract the
faithful in the provincial capital on the eve of Eid-ul-Azha.
Contrary to previous tradition, this year ratio of big animals like cows and
Buffaloes is higher than the small ones like goats and sheep, animal sellers
Khuda Bukhsh, Naseer, Juma Khan and others said at Bakar Mandi here on
Sunday.
The sellers said that their community have realized the increasing trend of
customers towards big animals because of being economical one as compared to
small animals, that is why they have increased their supply.
Talking about the problems they faced in bringing herds of animals in the
city, the sellers said that higher transportation charges had placed them in
a state of embarrassment.
Sale of Animals
To a question they said that sale of animals have not picked up so far
therefore they cannot estimate whether the prices of animals will cross
previous year’s limits this time or not.
“We are selling one or two animals daily to meet our day to day expenditures
therefore at this stage it is hard to judge, that prices of animals are
sky-rocketing”, Khuda Bukhsh a seller of goats arrived from Bhakkar said.
Nazim City district government Lahore Mian Amir Mahmood has said that 21
sale-points have been set up in all the six towns of Lahore and the town
governments are providing facilities to sellers.●
