Punjab Security plan to maintain peace on Eid-ul-Azha

LAHORE: The Punjab government has chalked out security plan in order to avoid any untoward incident, curb crimes and maintain peaceful environment on Eid-ul-Azha across the province. On the directions of the Punjab government, the Inspector General of police has directed all range DIGs, capital city police officer, DIG traffic and AIG development that Eid-ul-Azha is falling on January, 21,22 subject to sighting of moon.

IG pointed out that the nuisance likes influx of beggars at various public places particularly at the cross-roads/cowks would be increased during the hustle and bustle in coming days. Crimes like pocketing, purse snatching and eye teasing in and around markets, shopping centers, bus stands and railway stations would be hiked. The bad elements could hit bus stands, railway stations and other public places through the sabotage activities, bomb blasts to breach the peace and highways would become vulnerable to robberies particularly at nights due to increase in road traffic.

Increase in street/shop robberies and auto/car snatching around the said places and the crime like forgery and theft at the sale points of sacrificial animal could be amplified.

To control the expected susceptible situation, IG has directed the concerned that maximum vigilance would be exercised by utilizing all possible security measures to prevent such incidents and secure the peaceful atmosphere of festivity.

Special Pickets


They were further directed to establish special pickets, enhance patrolling, deploy guards at religious places and plain clothed duty may also be integrated alongwith uniform force to cater for any act of sabotage in all vulnerable places.

The regional officers were further directed to device comprehensive and effective monitoring mechanism for to ensure maximum out put from the available manpower and other resources. DIG traffic was directed to introduce a comprehensive, detailed and convenience traffic plan for the general public by given priority and no nuisance be created for the masses.●
