Malik, Shah advised rest; Protest demonstration in Srinagar
Pakistan Times Kashmir Desk

SRINAGAR: In occupied Kashmir, the JKLF Chairman, Mohammad Yaseen Malik has been discharged from the Soura Medical Institute Srinagar and advised three days complete rest by the doctors.

He and the president of Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) Shabbir Ahmad Shah were injured on Thursday when policemen attacked and severely beat them at Khanabal-Islamabad. They sustained injuries and were taken into custody. Other leaders Shakeel Ahmad Bakhshi and Mushtaqul Islam were also attacked and arrested.

After his release, Malik was admitted to Soura medical institute for treatment. Shah's two ribs were fractured, and, he too, has been advised complete rest for three days by the doctors. Following his discharge from Soura medical institute, Malik was taken to his Maisuma residence.

Strike was observed at Maisuma and its adjoining areas in protest against the murderous attack on Malik, Shah and others. All the shops and other business establishments remained closed. Protest demonstrations were also held. The demonstrators burnt tyres on road.

Meanwhile, the murderous attack on JKLF chairman, DFP president and other leaders is being widely condemned. A JKLF spokesman strongly assailed the attacks and said the incident exposed the tall claims of the puppet regime regarding battle of ideas. He added that the battle of ideas proved a hoax.

Awami Action Committee has also condemned use of force against the Hurriyat leaders and their subsequent arrest. A spokesman of the party described it as an outcome of frustration on the part of the puppet regime. Senior leader of Hurriyat Conference Sheikh Abdul Aziz has also assailed the attack on JKLF chairman and DFP president.●
