Indian SHO accused of molesting

SRINAGAR: In occupied
Kashmir, a station house officer, (SHO) has been accused of molesting and
insulting a woman of tehsil Handwara during captivity.
Raja Begum, the woman, said, SHO of police station Handwara tried to tear
her clothes and molest her while she was locked in custody in a minor case.
She said the police officer kept on torturing her for ten hours. She,
however, managed to get free when she greased his palms, she added.
Human rights bodies have time and again accused the Indian troops and police
of torturing women and youth in custody and of committing inhuman acts
against them.
The occupied valley has seen worst kind of human rights violations during
the last fifteen years by the Indian army.
Case registered against BSF officer
A case has been registered against a senior Border Security Force, (BSF)
officer of Indian army for torturing his colleagues and rash driving.
The officer of 16- battalion at Banpora camp lost his temper and beat up a
police sub-inspector and a driver when the two objected to rash driving by
BSF officer.
The BSF has claimed that the case against the officer was sorted out but
police said investigations were continuing.●
