OUR religious leaders’ fury over the omission of the religion column in the new passport is ridiculous, and completely irrelevant as far as the common people are concerned.

Qazi Hussain Ahmed and his colleagues would do better to focus on issues that affect people’s daily lives — especially those that compel some to commit suicide.

I wish I could hear our mullahs, reprimanding the government for its failure to provide basic civic and social services to the common man.●
