Eight killed by traffic mishap, suffocation in Pakistan

KARACHI: In a head on collision between a speedy coach and a car near Murshid Hospital in Karachi two people were killed and four seriously injured.

In the mishap in Mochko police station jurisdiction on Sunday a man Hamid 24 and a girl child Khudaija 8 were died on the spot, while four seriously injured including a woman Saeeda and child Nosheen, which were rushed to nearby hospital.

Three near Lahore

Three people were killed and two critically injured on Sunday when a Lahore bound car collided with a bus.

Three men in the car Mirza Qasim, Mirza Fahd and Mithu were killed on the spot, while Shaikh Abro and Qazi Umer were seriously injured and admitted in hospital in a critical condition.

Three Kids die of suffocation


Three children of a family including two boys died from suffocation while another received burn injuries when a burning candle fell on the bed in their house in North Cantonment area.

The victims might have survived, had their parents, who had gone to a private hospital not locked the children in their one-room house. Those killed were Chand (5), his brother Akash (3), sister Muqadas (2), all children of Siddique Masih, a resident of Khyber Colony.

According to the police, Siddique Masih and his wife left their residence, situated at Zarrar Shaheed Road, early Sunday and went to a private hospital, where they have been working as sweeper.

The children were asleep when a burning candle fell on their bed. Smoke engulfed the room and adjacent houses in no time and the children were killed due to suffocation caused by fire, the police said.

After listening to hue and cry of the children, the local residents informed the police and the fire brigade officials at 8:35 pm. The fire brigade officials reached the spot and extinguished the fire.

The bodies were later taken out from the room. Mehwish who had fallen unconscious was shifted to the CMH, where her condition was reported to be critical.●
