Pakistan to participate in International Car Racing

LAHORE: President Pakistan Muslim League Ch. Shujaat Hussain has said that Pakistan will participate in international car racing competition.

He said that the car which will take part in world competition first time in the history of the country would be put at display in an exhibition.

In this regard a ceremony would be held at the end of February which will be presided over by the President General Pervez Musharraf, he added.

He expressed these views while presiding over the high level meeting, here Sunday. Punjab Chief Minister, Ch. Pervaiz Elahi was also present on the occasion.

Ch. Shujaat Hussain said that participation of Pakistan in world completion of car racing for the first time will not only raise the prestige of the country but also the country will get a commendable place with regard to sports activities.

Addressing the ceremony, Punjab Chief Minister, Ch. Pervaiz Elahi said that it will be an honour for Pakistan to take part in international car racing.

He said that participation of Pakistan in this race will prove to be helpful for introducing Pakistani society as an enlightened and moderate society at world level.

He said that people of Pakistan are keen to take part in healthy and recreational activities. He directed the senior authorities to consider construction of a car racing track at Lahore.

Ch. Pervaiz Elahi said that holding of first international marathon at Lahore was a historic event as a result of which the image of Pakistan has further improved at world level.

He said that Lahore is a city of love, peace, cultural and sports activities and full participation of the people in the Marathon proved that they want to take part in constructive and positive activities.

The meeting was attended by Chairman Chief Minister's Task Force on Lahore, Ghaus Akbar, Ch.Salik Hussain, Chief Secretary Punjab, Kamran Rasool, Federal Secretary Information, Shahid Rafi, Chairman PIA, Ahmed Saeed, IG Punjab Police, Saadat Ullah Khan, Secretary Information Punjab, Taimur Azmat Osman, M.D.Pakistan Television, Muhammad Arshad Khan and other senior officers.●
