SRINAGAR: In occupied
Kashmir, the Indian troops subjected a muharram procession at Lal Chowk in
Srinagar Friday to brute force. APHC leaders including Syed Muzaffar Rizvi
were arrested on the occasion.
Elsewhere, Indian troops in their fresh acts of state terrorism martyred
three more Kashmiris. Of them, dead bodies of two were found in debris of
two houses blasted by troops at Rafiabad in Baramulla.
Another was shot dead in the same area who was claimed by occupation
authorities to be the Battalion Commander of Hizbul Mujahideen. Killing of a
seventy-year-old man in Shaikhpora locality of Rafiabad triggered forceful
anti-India demonstrations. Protests were also staged in Pahalgam against
illegal arrests.
Killing of a 70 year old civilian by Indian forces during a crackdown in
Rafiabad, Baramulla triggered forceful demonstration by hundreds of angry
residents of the area.
The Indian forces personnel belonging to 30 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) cordoned
off the village Sunni-Saidnar and carried out cordon and search operations
in the area. During the search operation the forces personnel tried to
manhandle few women. Seeing this a 70-year-old man Mohammad Maqbool Malla
objected.
The forces personnel fired at him and killed him on the spot. His killing
lead to demonstrations from the people and they came out in large numbers
protesting against the death. The protestors placed the body of the slain
person on the main road at Hadipora-Rafiabad and it led to the disruption of
the traffic.
The protestors were demanding that a case be filed against the military
forces personnel and action be taken against them. The protestors were not
ready to bury the body of the slain. They raised pro-freedom and anti-forces
slogans.
The protest demonstration led to complete standstill of the traffic movement
and it took hours altogether to restore the order. The protestors were
pacified only when the senior police officials and the civil administration
officials assured them that investigations would be carried out in the
case.●
