KARACHI: Pakistan’s
pioneering cellular company, Paktel’s latest GSM Network has gained immense
popularity with the public for its efficient service and reliability and for
the most economic tariff structure in the country.
The new rate structure applicable to all GSM pre-paid and post-paid packages
introduces LOCAL CALL RATES COUNTRYWIDE.
The drastic reduction has created a big price difference in the traiff
structures of Paktel GSM and other operators.
Following the immense popularity of Paktel GSM’s local call charging
facility, one of Paktel’s competitors had also followed suit and decreased
their rates for their customers.
However, the reduction have been made on rates charged with in the network
only whereas Paktel offers local call rates on all calls with in its own
network as well to other mobile phone networks and PTCL, thus making Paktel
GSM’s tariffs more attractive.
Calling from Paktel GSM to a PTCL number or any other mobile number is
cheaper than calling from any other source.
A five- minute nationwide call to a PTCL number from Paktel GSM would cost
Rs 23.9 while within the PTCL networks costs Rs.30.0. This is 25.5 percent
higher than Paktel GSM.
“This huge gap is solely because we charge local calls across networks.” Mr
Akbar Khan National Marketing Manager Paktel said, “When Paktel GSM
customers dial ant other mobile phone anywhere in Pakistan, normal
interconnect charges of just Rs 2 per minute are added to this and when a
PTCL number is dialed anywhere in Pakistan Rs 2.01 per five minutes are
charged. This rate makes Paktel GSM the most economical bet since no
distance-based charging is done at all.”●
